Grow healthy plants from seed in your home or greenhouse.
Suitable for striking cuttings
No root disturbance, plant straight into the ground when the roots appear through the side of the pot
Never allow compost to dry out, keep moist at all times
Getting started – fill pots to the brim with good compost and water until the pot is fully wet. The pot is now ready for seed sowing, transplanting small plants or rooting cuttings.
Seed sowing – sow seeds according to the seed packet instructions. As a guide, sow one or more seeds per pot and cover with 2-3mm of fine compost. Maintain a temperature of 16-20 degrees.
Seedlings & young plants – transplant seedlings to peat free fibre pots to keep them growing strongly. Handle them carefully and water them well when in position.
Rooting cuttings – prepare cuttings and dip the ends in rooting compound if required. Push them firmly into the compost and water well.
General guidance – transfer to larger pots or into the final position when the plant is large enough and the roots have penetrated the pot wall. Plant the complete pot and ensure the pot rim is covered.
